Leonie, In Australia which way does the water move in the toilet bowl? |
Leonie, I saw on the PhancyPages your link. I have to ask someone in Australia this really ridiculous question. It will end a silly fascination and argument in our household. If you have heard this question before please forgive me. When you flush the toilet in your house, does the water circulate clockwise or counterclockwise? no this is not a joke. My sons teacher at school filled his head with this dribble and now I am searching for the true answer. My son was told that it will go different ways depending on what side of the equator you live but his teacher didn't give the reason. If you have the time to respond to this silly email I would appreciate it. |
Leonie's Answer:
Counter-Clockwise, Dear Heart! Not a stupid question, and I believe it has something to do with the coriolis force. It's actually quite entertaining to watch, and also to imagine what happens right on the Equator. God must have had a special reason for setting it up this way. Perhaps to reassure modern aviators that they really had made it over the Equator.
Dominus tecum
Leonie
