I had cleaned the hummingbird feeder last week. Deciding it had to be near time, I went ahead and hung it from the usual spot. Every time I would pass the window, I would peek to see if there was a visitor but would see no one. We were sitting in the livingroom yesterday when Randy spotted one and thought it meant it was time for me to take the feeder out. He hadn't noticed the feeder was already in place. I checked back one year ago and did not mark the first sighting of the season but had noted on March 28th that I would need to have the feeder ready very soon.

I have been hearing the call of one lonely bob-white. No answer and he doesn't call very often but it is fairly early for them. I haven't seen a gold finch in about a week so someone further north will soon be seeing the little beauties but I already am missing them. All the other little birds are still around and they stay year round.

It's 7:45 a.m. and I am looking out the window here at my computer and seeing a hummingbird enjoying the feeder. What a beautiful sight. So, I grab the camera and run outside but the hummer was darting about high overhead and not where I could get a picture. I got a shot of the squirrel just before he saw me and ran off up the tree.

I had cleaned up my hanging goodies basket several weeks ago. I in put a big helping of dryer lint and on Saturday, I topped it off with a handful of morning glory vines. They were from two years ago but still nice and limber. By this morning, all the vine pieces were gone and about half of the lint. I used to put out knitting yarn pieces but they were not usually taken. One project for today will be to go gather more twigs for nest building.

The pair of woodpeckers had been coming up for water nearly every day until a week ago. I don't think I've ever seen them so frequently in any year before. The sure are beautiful but elusive. It is most difficult to catch their picture and get it to do well and clear.
