This little guy thinks I should bring him some more seeds, particularly the acorns. He's almost cute; but he's merely a nasty rodent with cute eyes and a fluffy tail. He will come up to the glass window and just stare at me trying to figure out why I have not brought fresh seeds yet for his morning hunger. |
It's amazing that the two grape vines are still living. They are planted in a spot not convenient for tending or even watering. |
The daylilies are late to bloom and each only last for a day but the show goes on for about 6 weeks as they open each blossom on the stem. |
They are called Desert Willows but they sure do better when they have more water. With drought conditions and no extra watering, they only bloom in the fall. The wildbirds love the sprinkler set to get the rough willow leaves wet and they play and bathe in the water droplets. I was taking pictures the other day when a hummingbird came up, flitted from one bloom to another and was then gone before I could get his picture. The flowers have the beauty of an orchid floating in the sky. |
I have yet to find a name for the flower below. It has a showy, white/light green "bloom" that can be massive on plants that grow to their potential. They have a strong scent, more of a mint but not offensive. The bugs leave them alone while eating down everything around them. |
We don't have many blue or purple flowers and this little guy is no more than 1/4 inch in diameter. |
