Easy Cream Pies

This is a very easy recipe for any type of cream pie you'd want to make and was my mother's favorite. Super easy to make and always turns out great!

 

  • 3 cups of whole milk

  • 3/4 cup sugar

  • 3 egg yolks  (whip whites for topping, see below)

  • 3 tablespoons of cornstarch

  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla

Now you can add either coconut, 1/4 cup cocoa for chocolate pie, or sliced banana for a banana cream. Cook pudding mixture over low heat until it thickens.

Pour pudding mixture into a baked pie shell.

Topping: 

  • 3 Egg Whites

  • 1/8 teaspoon Cream of Tartar

  • 3 Tablespoons Sugar

Whip egg whites, cream of tartar and sugar. Beat until glossy and stiff. Spread evenly over pie. 

Sprinkle some coconut on top as well. Bake in 400° oven until topping is nicely browned.
