I did not sign up here; membership is $45 a year. The opening page implies that you can just search their records but they may at some point as you to donate or join. Their only records are for immigrants passing through Ellis Island.

This site is named Internet Sources of German Genealogy but it has not been updated in over 5 years now. Excellent lists but some sites may no longer be valid.
