ONION SALAD

  • 3 large sweet onions sliced thin

  •  Soak in lukewarm water for 1 hour.  Drain well.

  •  1 1/2 cup vinegar

  • 1 1/2 cup water

  • 2 cups sugar

  • salt

 Bring to a boil and cool.  Pour over onions.  Store in fridge overnight.  Drain WELL.

Add 1/2 cup mayonnaise and 3 tsp. celery seed.  Coat well.  NOTE:  This is wonderful on sandwiches.  I make it at Christmas and serve it on ham sandwiches.  It is also good served as a side dish!  In the summer I make it for BBQs and use Walla Walla sweet onions!  Delicious!!
