Once in a while, a goat will lose its cud. It will swallow wrong or get sick from snail sludge or worms. Anyway, here is how to correct this problem.

1. No GRAIN!!!!!

2. good dry hay and clean water

3. Give them 2-3 tablespoon of baking soda in 8 oz. of water. Its up to you how you get it down them.

4. One hour later, give them 1 cup of plain yogurt with live cultures in it.

When the babies are born, sometimes they need colustrum because Mom died or she's having some real problems with the teats. Caked bag or mastitis or some problem.

Put 1 can of evaporated milk in with 2 cans of water and add 1 tablespoon of honey to the mixture. Feed them every two hours until Mom recovers or they start sucking on another doe.

If you have a sick animal, we have used this one on pigs, goats, sheep and other 4 legged critters... Electrolytes..can also be used for humans...

1 teaspoon Morton lite salt or sea salt

1/3 teaspoon baking soda

5 teaspoon honey

1 quart of water

Mix and take to the mammal that needs it.

Another way is to add some peppermint oils for flavorings...especially helpful when dealing with the humans.

We worm our goats in the spring and the fall. We use tobacco that we grow ourselves. Just hang the plants upside down to dry. Feed them a leaf a day for 5 days.

When you need a good shot of chlorophyll for your animals, use comfrey leaves. Just feed them one in the morning and another in the evening. Any time an animal is looking peaked or droopy. Acting funny, hanging away from the crowd.

For the diarrhea, use Pepto-Bismol. If that doesn't work, get real nasty and buy Corrid Powder from a vet or farm store and read the directions really well. Mix it up and give for one week. No more than that. If the animal still has the problem, call the vet.

These have saved us many a veterinarian bill, and they work without using manmade chemicals.
