07-24-03 This first picture shows how the trumpet vine is growing back. Judging by the great number of giant black & yellow butterflies, it was probably the caterpillars that did all the damage to these vines, see bottom of vines! It happened overnight and by morning was complete with no more damage since. |
Don't I regret putting the tops of the trellis together. Last year they each stood alone and that was fine. With the center so difficult to reach, it's almost impossible to get inside to tend and pick fruits. |
These cantaloupe are from seed sent by Byron Tumlinson. They are doing great but next year, we'll have more fenced gardens and more space for such sprawling vines! |
I have been picking the squash every day to have all the young and tender veggie I could possibly want. |
