A View from Mel's Place

04-10-05

Life is good on my homestead. As I type this MJ is on the phone with the web site people, PH will soon be in its own place! I am listening to #2 son play a game on his computer, using speakers we got at a yard sale last week for a $1. Number 1 son is still waking up, though how he is sleeping through the game being played on his pc by his over night guest I do not know! One guest is still asleep on the couch.

I have eaten my yogurt already this morning, and sat outside for a few listening to the chickens across the way and watching a neighbor work on re-roofing their house. There is a lot of green outside now, thanks to the rain last weekend, more was expected to day but unless it comes in a hurry, the sun tells a different story!

The air is fresh and full of the sweet smell of irises in full bloom! Today holds the excitement of getting new laundry poles, well new to me anyway. I am getting 2 sets, one will be for a laundry line and the other will be to use to make a sort of gazebo in the yard. I plan to put white lattice work on it (I think I can I think I can! LOL) and then I will plant climbing roses and train them up the lattice; it will be a cool place to sit on the bench underneath.

I call it in my minds eye, Ems place. I do this because as I gazed out across the yard to the spot where it will go, the first vision I saw was of Drew and Emily, sitting in the shade on the bench talking in hushed tones about their future life together.

Ah last night was nice. The neighbor had us down to supper (we alternate nights several times a week!) He sure can bbq a good pork chop! After watching a movie (the guys kept dozing off through it!) MJ and I walked home in the star light. The kids were still at prom, so we sat in the dark on the back porch and star gazed for a long while listening to the dogs of the next road over bark away. We never know why they bark, but they sure do an awful lot of it!

The laundry poles didnt get to come yesterday, we are planning for today now. With prom there just was too much excitement in the air!

Well I woke before dawn this morning; I went to sit out side, since it is 70+ out already to watch the sun wake up. There is one problem with my plan, a huge bank of clouds is rolling in blocking my view!

There is a table full of snacks the kids brought last night for snackin after the prom. My normal early morning breakfast of yogurt is being replaced by a totally innutritious one of Oreos and Pepsi! It may not be good for me ok I admit it, its horrible for me, but my taste buds sure are happy!

The kids stayed over last night, and had movie marathons with MJ, now they are quietly talking in the living room. Well all but Chris and Ash, Chris went to bed, Ash fell asleep on the couch.

It looks like we may not move, I am not sure just what MJ has decided, but the tone on moving is changing. We both love this place, even if it is a mobile home and needs repair. We have figured out we can do the repairs ourselves, but not to rent it. I have mixed feelings, though a sense of peace on the whole thing. If God wishes me to move, off I go, but if His plans for me include staying here, then I am up for that as well!

I am doing pretty good for an old lady! I was up until between 2 and 3 and then up again when MJ crashed at 6. (We promised the parents we would chaperone, and MJ took a nap about midnight !)

It looks like it will be time soon, as in the next few days, to change the fuse back to the AC from the heater. Our nights are getting warmer, and that means the days will soon be getting HOT! LOL

OH! I almost forgot! I got a car! Its a 92-93 Chevy Beretta. She doesnt run, but for the price I can not complain, especially since we do not know why and she seems in sound shape! The neighbor has her down at his house and will look at her close as soon as I get a battery. She is small and gorgeous, with just a small crumple in the drivers wheel well. OH, you probably are wondering why I would buy a non running car. Well its cuz I didnt buy it! It was free! There is an amazing resource on line now called Freecycle! I got the car through that. You simply place and ad (its an email yahoo group) telling what you have to get rid of, or items that you want, and if some one needs or has, they email you. I emailed about the car, and the lady said since I wrote first if I could get it picked up, it was mine! Some days it pays to have neighbors with trailers hooked to their trucks!

Well this has gone on for quite awhile now! LOL All in all I have to say the view from my place is very nice!
