The View from Mel's Place

Howdy everyone! This week has been a busy one. Chris has finally graduated high school, and is relaxing a bit!

We have had more storms over the last 2 weeks than at any one time before that I can remember!

The kittens are getting big and running the whole house, they are so much fun to watch!

I was thinking of buying a sewing machine last week, but was given one instead, and yet, it doesnt work either! We are trying to research how to fix it ourselves, but it seems to have several problems and the brand (Euro Pro) is not easy to find online! So for now my sewing is on hold.

I am however busy knitting items on my Christmas gift list! Have you begun to prepare for this holiday yet? Only 196 days!

Well we were going to put up a set of laundry poles this weekend but between the rain and the fact that they got broken off too short to use as laundry poles that idea is on hold! They will go out to the back corner and become a trellis for roses I think this fall instead.

There are a few pics of my front yard now, and one of me and my dh and me and my youngest son I sent Nita last week. CLICK HERE!

MJ and I went yard saleing yesterday and boy did we score! MJ and I got up early as in 530 or so! I was getting dressed when he came in, surprised I was up and said, lets go look at yard sales! So we went. We got a quilting frame, small one, like for sitting and doing small hand quilting jobs foot stool I will recover (MJ did this for me already and it looks great!) can opener, black n decker kit with soup mix and mugs (saw these last xmas at walmart for $9) foldable dish drain skate board (Chris broke his old one) A ty beanie bear (red, named Sizzle MWT!) red white n blue welcome sign (ya'll know I am crazy for red white n blue!) Blue angel Raggedy Andy doll angel bunny tupperware butter dish large rag doll (I have an idea for a decoration) basket, with blue checkerboard and red stars small suit case (make up case?) OLDOLDOLD with 1920s girls on it and the bestest bargain of all, MJ got a computer, the computer is old and icky BUT it had a 2002 17 inch, flat screen monitor to replace his ancient 13 inch Noisy ibm one, and it has a newer printer than mine. ($30 for the whole pc, from mouse to printer!) So for... $43.75 we got many useful items, had...4 hours of fun together time and MJ got the best fathers day gift I could possible have given him, seeing as how this monitor still sells at walmart for $119!

Today, after being awakened by a 5 am storm, I am kinda sleepy and glad it is an easy day no major cleaning or anything, perhaps a load of laundry and dishes, other than that I plan to relax, surf, read and knit!

I am no longer watching little bit. I miss him but his dad took exception to the idea that I did indeed need to be paid something before his wife returns from boot camp. I wasnt even asking for the total due, just a little to help pay a bill. Oh well God provided the money and I am getting a lot more done with out having to keep tabs on little bit, still I miss his giggles and the way he saunters across a room looking for all the world like a cow hand after a hard days ride!

Drew has decided to go the Marine Reservist route now instead of the full tour. He has plans to go to college here in the local town, and has an appointment Thursday with a group that will pay his way through a 2 year degree, and then find him a job afterwards! He qualifies according to the college for many grants in addition to this, so we are hopeful it will work out the way he wants it to. With going reserve he will not go to boot until next summer, which will give us more time to save and be able to go to his graduation as well!

Chris leaves in 2.5 months for boot, and I miss him already, but I am glad he knows what he wants and is getting out on his own too.
