SPICED RAISIN BREAD
  • 1 cups plus 2 T. water (70-80 degrees)
  • 3/4 cup raisins
  • 2 T. butter, softened
  • 2 T. brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. EACH: ground nutmeg, ground cloves and grated orange peel
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp. active dry yeast

In bread machine pan, place ingredients in order suggested by manufacturer. Select basic bread setting. Choose crust color and loaf size if available. Bake according to bread machine directions (check dough after 5 minutes of mixing; add 1-2 T. of water or flour if needed). Makes 1 loaf (1 1/2 lb.) NOTE: If your bread machine has a time delay feature, it is recommended you do not use it for this recipe.
