It gets so hot, we leave the lights off to keep the
rooms a bit cooler. And of course, the windows are covered to keep the
direct sunlight out.
I run a water sprinkler during the hottest part of the day so the wild birds can come cool down. Even the hummingbirds and butterflies will play in the spray. For the chickens, I let the water run slow and they have a chicken lake for cooling their feet. The hottest we've ever seen it (not an official reading) was on the thermometer was 116° in front of the Hawley Grocery Store, Hawley, Texas. That was in 2002. Nita |
