I remember when you bought salt in a 5 pound bag. You kept a salt canister and filled your shakers from it. Anyone not paying attention to what they were doing, used salt instead of sugar.

I remember when banks accepted change for a deposit only in rolls. They would give you a limited number of the paper rolls or you could buy them at the dime store. Now, you must take all your change loose and have it run through their counting machine. Preferably to put into your account (leave a deposit slip) for a later credit. Otherwise you'd take up their time and they'd give you evil glances every few minutes.

Any girls who got pregnant while they were in high school and wanted to keep going to school, had to sit at a separate table for lunch and were to have no contact with the other school kids. The teachers preferred that such girls left school and did not attend anymore.

Toys for Tots collected old toys in need of repair. Their Corp of Marines volunteered to fix and make these items like-new again and then gave them to the needy kids. Now, they take no used items and only accept money so they can buy new things.
