Just finished some contract work with my knitting. A gal sent me a very old stocking that was knit by her grandmother to copy. It had twin Santa faces [one on each side of the sock] and the lower there was a centered "X" of two red candy canes on a white background. Of course there was the white band at the top with the name in red on it. That was the only similarity to the regular socks that I knit. I wrote the pattern down as I did it so I now have another pattern to add to my growing patterns of old Christmas stockings. Maybe when my eyes and fingers get to the point where I cannot knit my socks any more, I will make sure that these patterns are made available to those who can still carry on the tradition of hand made Christmas Stockings. It would be such a shame for this to die out.
