Since the last posting, there has only been about 1/2 inch of rain. There was that brief dusting of sleet and snow mix back in the fall but that was it. It is now what they like to call drought. Our driveway is so dry, sand, that we couldn't water it enough to keep it useable. There is that slim chance for rain given for Easter, next weekend.

Brief downpours but they did amount to another 3/4 inch of rain. Nice and no need to water for another day or so. I do find myself wishing for 3 to 4 inches all at one time so the burn ban can be lifted and I can burn paper stuff in the burn barrel. Maybe soon.

The rain was long and slow but only amounted to 3/4 inch in the gauge. Nice to not need to water for another day.

There was a strong line of storms building in the evening but the rains skirted all around us giving us very little. When I last looked at the radar before shutting down the computer, I could see a small cell to our west that just might actually come our way. About 4 or 4:30 this morning, it was making thunder and starting to drop rain. Until just after 6, it was pouring and Randy was fearing that there would be no morning walks with the pups. Sure enough, the rain quit abruptly and the crew was out on the paths and roadway to have a nice early morning walk. Happy day, indeed. 1 1/2 inches total.

The storms started yesterday evening but barely wet the top of the sand. After the dingy weather girl proclaimed that the storms were dying out from lack of daytime heating, they continued to move and build. By morning we had 1 1/4 inches in the gauge. A nice feeling to have nothing in need of watering.

Hours of rain made it seem like more than the recorded 1/2 inch. But we are still above normal for the year.

Almost 2 more inches of rain yesterday. Lots of big storms caused by the same old warm moist air from the gulf, south, and a cold low pressure from the north. What a night of flickering power and then it went off. No phone line to call in and report the problem. By midnight, the power was back on but too late to start my projects.

The storms started about 9 this morning. Showing big and mean on the radar but we only got a smattering, just enough to wet the top of the soil and porch. It fell straight down and didn't even get the windows wet. Nothing had standing water. By 2 p.m. The storms were building so big that they were spawning tornadoes all over the area. The two biggest storms merged and made one extremely huge mass. We had 1 1/2 inches of rain in about 20 minutes. After that one moved off, another hit. They both were packing high winds blowing down trees if not ripping them out of the ground in areas to our north. Tin roofs and carports were taken away. The hail here was from pea size to quarter size. The second round brought another inch giving us 2 1/2 inches total for the day.

The tomato and pepper plants all look to have held up well. They were mashed down but not broken. Lots of end tips from the oak trees were littering the ground but no other damage. Beau hates having to stay indoors but Lady did not mind a bit. She napped.

Short but heavy rainfall gave us an inch and one half. Nice shower.

Lots of storms moving through all afternoon putting almost 2 inches of rain in the gauge. Soggy but more storms during the night.
