The fire of January 23, 2009

The hay barn is on the left and you can see where the fire was trying to ignite the bottom when Randy came along to put it out. You can see where the brush was burning all around the chicken coop but not inside the fence. Not at all. The big white spot in the middle was the huge brush pile I'd worried about moving. Now it is gone.

This is another brush pile that is now gone. Notice how the fire didn't burn most trees, just burned the brush and fallen leaves on the ground. It ran in pouring fingers.

This is the big brush pile, note the remains of an old couch in the middle right edge.

The driveway. But if the Baird VFD had not pulled to the top of the driveway, our house would have been lost.

This is the garden Randy has been working on clearing and putting up a new fence. He'd spent many hours pulling the briar off the old fence and now, what is left has no briar.

This is the old chicken coop. It was built mostly with old wood salvaged from a very old building. There are some big rocks and just a bit of corrugated metal. That's all.

The driveway with the neighbor's pasture in the background. Same for photo below.
