Giving Thanks by Arlene Correll Friday, November 29, 2002
This is one of the best times of the year for
me. I like it better than Christmas.
Thanksgiving!!! So much to be thankful for. Just about everything we seem to take for granted needs to be put into that category. Matter of fact, I feel more comfortable giving a gift at this time of year, than at Christmas. We believe we do not own “stuff” , but are stewards of it and as such our job is to take care of it and to give thanks for each and everything, every day of our lives. With these thoughts in mind, here are some of my
rules of life and I am thankful I learned them. Now I am thankful for
having this format given to me by Nita and I would like to share them
with you, So with that in
mind, the following is OUR GIFT TO YOU As you grow and you
change your method of being a steward of your "stuff" we, at
Home Farm Herbery, give you the following insight on many things.
Best of all we send you the following thoughts because we believe
it is the province of every human being's ability to master the art of
achievement in making his or her life a masterpiece by learning the art
of living and by learning to give thanks that we can truly be and do
anything we really want. 1.
Learn to do things, anything, well and give thanks. 2. Learn to become an
artist within your own life and to select the colors of your acts, cold
or warm, fearful or daring, small or big and give thanks. 3. Learn to visualize
yourself as you want to be and to see yourself as a master servant of
the race, ministering to human needs, radiating happiness and give
thanks. 4. Learn to see yourself
as a builder, making creative contribution to the evolution of our
everyday life and give thanks. 5. Learn to select the
colors of your thoughts, drab or bright, weak or strong, good or bad and
give thanks. 6. Learn to choose the
colors of your emotions, discordant or harmonious, harsh or quiet, weak
or strong and give thanks. 7. Learn to make your
dreams come true when you act to turn them into realities and give
thanks. 8. Learn to dare to open
doors and boldly step through to explore new horizons, new ideas, new
theories and new philosophies and give thanks. 9. Learn to understand
America and the fact that it is any tune your want to play, any book in
which you set down your life and live it like you want, a sports arena
where every player has a chance to win and truly give thanks. 10. Learn to be aware of
wonder, awe and humility in the face of life's unexplained mysteries and
remember to give thanks. 11. Learn to know you
mentally become rich when you think rich thoughts and you physically
become rich when you have rich sensations, and you become emotionally
rich when you have rich feelings, and spiritually rich when you discover
the riches of the kingdom within. To
know that, what a person is, not what he or she has, is the measure of
real wealth and one needs to really give thanks for this one. 12. Learn to discover the
art of "being" is today and not tomorrow and give thanks
because it is a great day to be “above ground”. 13. Learn to realize a
human being is capable of making mistakes and learning from them and
give thanks. 14. Learn to make the
most of you, by fanning that tiny spark of possibility within you into a
flame of achievement and give thanks. 15. Learn to realize
there is magic in the art of believing and to give thanks. 16. Learn to admit that
one must change one's mind in order to change the world and give thanks. 17. Learn to understand
that common sense is not static, it changes and from that comes the
ability to apply the best knowledge we know today from all our
yesterdays and give thanks. 18. Learn to realize that
courtesy is the practice of the Golden Rule in little things and that
good manners cost nothing and remember to always give thanks. 19. Learn to know we will
contribute more if we think more and give thanks for our wonderful
minds.. 20. Learn to understand
that crisis is creative. That out of crisis flows new ideas, new
information, technology, discoveries, inventions and leaders and always
give thanks. 21. Learn to understand
that education is to continue to grow as long as you live and give
thanks. 22. Learn to know that
decisions need not be made at once, but once made should come from the
heart and for that we truly need to give thanks. 23. Learn to understand
that practicing empathy will enlarge our lives, what better thought to
give thanks for?. 24. Learn to accept
failure knowing that research is 99% failure and 1% success and only the
1% counts and always remember to give thanks. 25. Learn to know that
forgiveness is a personal way to peace and for that one always gives
thanks. 26. Learn to know that
freedom is a personal thing, a ladder to be climbed, an open door to
walk through, a responsibility, a gift from God and give thanks. 27. Learn to know that
the first step of friendship is being a friend and truly give thanks. 28. Learn to understand
that "getting along" depends on our own behavior and give
thanks. 29. Learn to understand
that the best gift of giving is often the giving of our own time and
selves and give thanks for the ability to do that. 30. Learn to be a good
citizen by lifting up instead of letting down and give thanks. 31. Learn to feed other
minds and help them grow creates a great life for both of you and
remember to give thanks. 32. Learn to know the
real secret of happiness is to meet the challenge of each day with the
serene faith that, " that all things work together for good to them
that love God." And give thanks. We, at Home Farm Herbery, sincerely thank you
for reading this and we hope your day of Thanksgiving is shared with
your loving family and friends. When
you lift your glass to toast the joy of life, here is my favorite toast
to share with you. “I give thanks to friends, old and new. I give thanks to friends false and true. I give thanks to friends who know you well And like you just the same.” Just email me with any questions or if you are
in the area, stop in and say hello.
Please remember to …… “Tread the Earth Lightly”… and in
the meantime… may your day be filled with… Peace, Light and Love, Arlene W. Correll
