Christmas isn't what it used to be.  Those are the words my parents used to say when I was younger, I never thought I'd be saying them myself.  But it isn't what it used to be is it ?  it's all so commercialised, no one cares what it's all about really, and sadly, there are so many youngsters these days that have never even been taught the true meaning.

Love has a price tag, we are judged by what we spend, the more we spend, the more we love !  or so is the popular opinion.

How sad.

To me, love is all around us, in God's creation, the wonderful scenery, the beauty of the natural world, the animal kingdom, the stunning beauty of a frosted spiders web, the stillness of a snow covered landscape, the peaceful tranquility of natural woodland.  These things are free ! and we are privileged indeed to have and appreciate them.  So much better than the jingling of the cash register !!

We. who love the countryside and the simple life are the lucky ones.  We don't need the latest fashion, car or CD ! we can see beyond that.  I don't know about the rest of you, but I am made to feel a 'little strange', not quite normal because I don't conform to what most folks idea of how I should be living.   I'm frequently asked 'but why do you want to live out there', or  'well perhaps you'll find a proper home soon!'.

I just smile sweetly, and am content in the knowledge that I have found a proper home, in the countryside surrounded by my animals and God's creation.  What more could we ask for ?

We all have to find our own way in life, and I'm just glad I'm where I am right now.
