The Last Straw

More Photos below ! !

As I've said before, I can help myself to hay and straw from the barn at my home as a sort of 'payment' for checking on the sheep around here for the shepherd who lives about 5 miles away.

Anyway, it's time to clean out the chicken sheds/sties etc. and I needed some straw, the barn has recently been filled up to the roof (very high) so even at the top of the ladder I was a long way off reaching the top bale (I'm vertically challenged anyway - short ! )

I called my son to drive over to help, he's 6'6" so I thought he could do it, but no, he couldn't get up there either, there was a farm worker nearby with a fork lift so I asked him if he could do it, but the forks were so close, but still couldn't get a bale out for me, so we came up with the idea of getting my son to stand on the 'forks' and being hoisted up to the top, cutting through the twines, and pushing the straw down.   It worked !  and I've taken some pics I thought you all would like to see of the procedure.
