On the left are a mushroom that comes up everywhere. The die as soon as they dry out but come back every time they get damp. On the right is the one of two Hibiscus that sprouted. The other has 2 leaves and both those are half eaten. |
So far the grasshoppers have not bothered with the melons, squash, okra or the zinnias. I almost wish I had planted all the seeds but there just wasn't space. I ran out of sprinkler hose and bagged compost to fertilize. | With a little more time, I won't be able to walk up to the zinnias from inside the garden. Outside will be much easier. I knew when we started that this would not be enough space for all the plants. |
On the left, you can see the melons and zinnias in the background. The closest row is okra and the row behind it is the squash. The squash was suddenly taller than the okra. Another picture of the same on the right. No blooms on either the squash or okra. Lots on the melons. |
During the heat of the day, the cucumber vines wilt and look so sad. But with the soaker hose and afternoon shade, they are doing better. | The tomatoes are doing so much better after I put down lots of hay for mulch. It keeps the tiny stream of water from hitting their leaves and just puts it back down to the ground. |
On the left are the plants in the wheelbarrow. I have only planted out a few of the catnip |
