It was three years ago that I quit smoking cigarettes (May 21,1999). I tried
to quit many times before, but always the same thing, after one hour of
not smoking I went nuts! Getting angry, crying, saying things like
"I have to quit" then turning around and saying" I can't
, I need a smoke, now!"
It was awful, then one day I heard that someone was able to quit
with the help of the patch, so I thought if she can quit smoking 4 packs
a day, then I can with my 1 &1/2 pack. So I began just like they
said to do, the strongest, then work your way down to the weakest, and
finally quit. But two days into the first box found me getting desperate
for a smoke because of not using my hands for anything other than
smoking. Back to square one I found things to do with my hands. I also
found that after eating I would get nervous and want to go have a smoke,
so I got up from the table, did the dishes, and went for a walk in the
area that I lived, I was able to overcome that. Also scripture tells us
that if we "resist the devil he will flee, well that really helped
because, I was able to say "NO" to it's alluring call. So say
"NO" to it and keep in mind that the patch releases just
enough to over come your craving, so wait a few minutes the patch will
help get you through it. I stayed on the strongest patch longest.
Thanks so much Nita for letting me tell my story.
