 An Ode to Teddy

You’re my little green-eyed, bright-eyed  Teddy,

You’re my little green-eyed, bright-eyed boy,

You’re my little green-eyed, bright-eyed kitty

And your Debbie loves you so.

An Ode to Sweetie

You’re my little green-eyed, bright-eyed  Sweetie,

You’re my little green-eyed, bright-eyed girl,

You’re my little green-eyed, bright-eyed kitty

And your Debbie loves you so.

Personal commentary:

In September 2001, we lost our Tooter/Boo-Boo/Boyfriend kitty to cancer.  The Lord had other plans for us.  He didn’t want us to be lonely.

A stray cat had had a litter of kitties in our vet’s (Donna)  back yard.  Being the animal lover she is, she eventually captured several of the kittens, brought them into her home, gave them shots and treatment for worms & ear mites.    Knowing how grief-stricken my mother was over the loss of Tooter, Donna  offered Mama her pick of the kittens to help assuage  her grief.

We were skeptical at first. Did we really need another pet right now?   Being dog-lovers for a life time, we asked ourselves if perhaps it was it time to get a  puppy instead of a cat.

To make a long story short,  We Came to the vet’s to see the kittens, We Saw how cute , healthy and sweet they were and  They Conquered our hearts.  Instead of just one kitty, we left Donna’s office that day with two…….one precious, little tuxedo boy-kitty with  golden-chartreuse eyes and “spats” on his toes, the other, a Maine Coon sweetheart with eyes like almond-shaped  agates, a pink &  perky “turned-up” nose and a dainty, rosy mouth that always seems to be smiling.

With their youthful exuberance, hysterical antics, and endless affection, they have brought joy and laughter once again to our lives and  have borne testimony to our hearts that when the Lord finds it necessary to take something away, He always replaces it abundantly.
